Half birthday!
Just in case anyone’s still checking here…yesterday was Lucy’s half birthday. Hard to believe it’s been 6 months already!

I saw Wordpress had a new version, so I upgraded and went browsing themes. I like this one! I hope you do too.
My categories are broken, and I’m trying to figure out how to fix them, but I bet no one really uses them that much anyway!
Last week was tremendous for Lucy. In addition to discovering her hands and starting to grab at things with coordinated focus, she managed to roll over onto her back twice during tummy time. And last night, she laughed when I was patting her bum to get her dry after bath time.
To celebrate, here is my favorite picture from last month, taken on Father’s Day:

Lucy turned 4 months old last weekend. We celebrated by taking a little trip up to Hampton Beach. To be honest, we didn’t really go up there to celebrate her 4-monthday…it was just a happy coincidence that there’s a small version of a family reunion happening all this week. We wanted to see the out-of-town relatives, so we crashed the party for a day.
Anyway, Lucy had her 4 month checkup this week. She’s up to 13 lbs 6 oz, and 22.5 inches long. The doctor says the weight is smack dab in the middle of normal, but her length is on the low end. Oh well! I still think it’s too early to proclaim shortness gloom & doom on her just because she didn’t hit normal at 4 months.
And in other Lucy news, Lucy reached for and grabbed her keys today! Yay!
I figured since she noticed her hands this week, I’d start working with her to do a little more. She was sitting on my lap, and at first I just held my finger out to her. It took a little bit, but she finally got both hands there and experimented with trying to grab my finger. Then this afternoon, I got her little plastic keys out and held them in front of her, shaking them every so often to keep her attention focused. Again, it took a bit, but she finally got both hands in contact with them, and then she opened one little hand and grabbed one of the keys and tried to eat it.
I’m so proud!
