Happy birthday, USA!

Something strange is afoot!

Pun intended. You’ll see what I mean when you keep on reading.

Last summer, I lost a pair of Crocs to the Atlantic Ocean. I had taken them off to walk on the beach, and thought I had tied them securely enough to my belt loop. Alas, the knot on the bandanna came undone, and my Crocs floated out to sea. I didn’t realize it till the other end of the beach.

I bought another pair of Crocs. I really have a hard time living without my Crocs. They’re the only shoes that let me do lots of walking and standing without killing my lower back. I wear them all the time. I even asked for and received a pair of winter Crocs for Christmas so I wouldn’t have to be Croc-less in the snow.

So now it’s finally warm weather time up here in New England. I got my summer Crocs out of the closet a few weeks ago to wear whenever I go shopping. I have flip flops that I wear more often than not, but my Crocs offer a little more protection from parking lot grime and puddles.

We went up to Hampton Beach again for Memorial Day. I wore the flip flops, but I packed the Crocs anyway, just in case I needed a slightly more substantial shoe choice before the day was over. I never took them out of the car, not till we got back home.

One day last week, I went to slip on the Crocs, but they didn’t want to slide on as easily as I’m accustomed to. No worries…it was late in the day, and I figured my foot must have been a little swollen or something. I grabbed my sneakers and went out.

A few days ago, I went to grab the Crocs again. They were sitting beside my flip flops, and I couldn’t help but notice they seemed rather small, much smaller than I remembered. I picked one of them up and flipped it over to check the size. It’s a size small. That’s rather odd, because a size small is for women’s shoe size 6-7, and I wear an 8 or 8.5 depending on the shoe. I’m pretty certain my Crocs are supposed to be size medium instead. I tried to put them on again, but there’s no way those Crocs are going on my feet.

Now, I’m sure my feet haven’t grown *that* much. If they had, I wouldn’t be able to wear any of my shoes. So, somehow, I have someone else’s Crocs. They aren’t even a matched pair, from what I can tell. When you hold them up side by side, even though both are a size small, one of the shoes is over half an inch shorter than the other. The smaller shoe is also slightly darker in color, making it appear newer, and the tread on the bottom isn’t as worn.

Other than Memorial Day, my Crocs haven’t gone out of the house not on my feet. All I can figure is that someone went through our car when we were at the beach and swapped my Crocs for theirs. I know it seems unlikely, but I don’t see any other explanation. I wouldn’t have bought a shoe sized for women’s 6-7 when I wear an 8+, and the only other person in the extended family who wears Crocs still has hers, so I didn’t accidentally take her pair.

Apparently, my Crocs and Hampton Beach don’t get along together very well!

Time flies when you’re having fun!

Here are some new shots of Lucy:

11 weeks and counting!

That’s how old Lucy is today. :)  From jumping on the scale with her and without her and noting the difference, I think she’s around 12 pounds now, and most of her 0-3m clothes are going to be too small for her to wear by next week if she keeps it up. Last night she slept in one of her new 3-6m pirate sleepers so she’d have some looseness to kick those little feet around!

And, we’ve got a bedtime now, I think. She’s been going to sleep consistently at 1 AM. While not the optimal bedtime for a little girl, at least it’s better than the previous 4-5 AM. And she sleeps 4-6 hours now! That’s a lot to me these days.

Happy springtime! Hope it’s as beautiful where you are as it is here.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Much love to all the moms out there, especially my mom, obviously the best one!

My mother’s day gift from Lucy was that she went to bed at 2 AM instead of 5, after only spitting up a little bit one time, and she slept till 6:30. Whee!

Eric got a 4-picture frame and added 3 of his favorite pictures of Lucy so far, with captions. Hopefully the picture taken at the Mother’s Day banquet at the church yesterday will be a good one to stick in for the 4th picture.

And, the crib was put together today! Hopefully we’ll be able to get Lucy comfortable in it soon.
